Thoughtfully crafted with your wellness in mind, this inviting, off-grid social space inspires you to slow down and immerse your senses in every season. Overlooking the stunning Loch Ard, and nestled by Ben Lomond and the Trossachs country park, our wild sauna offers a Scottish twist to Finnish tradition.
A wild sauna is exactly what it sounds like on the tin! An outdoor, wood or coal-fired and set in nature. At Sweat and Soak, our wood-fired sauna is situated on the shores of Loch Ard, allowing you to move gently between heat, fresh air and the brisk waters of the loch itself, following a natural rhythm of warming, cooling and rest.
You don’t need to have used saunas before to experience Sweat and Soak. Designed for beginners and regular sauna-goers alike, our sessions are unhurried, with guidance available if you need. Our sauna sessions allow you to listen to your body, rest when needed, and enjoy the experience at your own pace.
For our wild sauna, we recommend that you bring two clean towels (one to sit on, one to dry off), water (it’s important to stay hydrated!), and warm layers to wrap up afterward (particularly in the winter months!)
We ask guests to shower before entering, remove jewellery, and avoid lotions or oils. The sauna is footwear-free, but if you’re planning to take on wild swimming, we recommend you keep slip-on shoes outside of the sauna for the path into the loch.
Please also note that swimwear is to be worn at all times!
Both shared and private sauna sessions are available at Sweat & Soak.
Our custom-made sauna has a capacity of 6 users for shared sessions, making even group sauna experiences cosy and quiet. If you’re not comfortable sharing the sauna with others, there is the option to book the sauna privately for yourself or a group of up to 8 people for £95.
Sweat and Soak Sauna is nestled on the banks of Loch Ard, in Kinlochard, only 10 minutes from Aberfoyle. We’re opposite the Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel, on the B829, next to Loch Ard Adventure Centre.
The best way to get here is via car, but you can use public transport services to get to Aberfoyle from Stirling and Glasgow (X10A route) and call a taxi (or walk, if you fancy) up to the sauna from Aberfoyle.
There is parking available in the Forest Hills Hotel just across the road from Sweat and Soak Sauna, so you can walk from your car to relaxation in less than 2 minutes! Please try to avoid street-side parking as this can cause obstructions on the road.
